What:
Visible Child is pleased to provide personalized consultation and coaching to parents, families, schools, and organizations.
At Visible Child, we pride ourselves on collaborative and eclectic consulting. The beauty of individual consultation is that it allows us to address, in a very direct and applicable way, the needs, values, and style of an individual child and their families or caregivers, providing solutions and support that work for YOU–it is neither a cookie cutter nor a dogmatic approach. We come to solutions together. You bring your knowledge of your child, and we bring the research, resources, experience, and child development expertise…together, we find solutions!

More Information
How Much Does It Cost?
PLEASE NOTE: Our standard fee is $175/hr (as of 8/1/22).
For new clients, we are now only booking ongoing coaching packages, with a minimum of 3 hours (3 x 1 hour sessions), paid in advance. While 3 is the minimum — many clients book 5 or 10 or more hours, that can then be used in 30 or 60 minute increments, at the client’s discretion. We have found that the relationship-building inherent in ongoing work together is a critical piece of this work being successful, so we no longer do single sessions or sessions longer than one hour.
Unfortunately, parent coaching is not covered by insurance. Payment for consults is due upon booking.
How Does It Work?
Click the button below these paragraphs to book your appointment/s using our easy online booking system powered by vcita.
You will be prompted for you contact information, information about your family, your preferred mode of consult, and what issues you are seeking to address. You will also be able to make a request for a particular time, or you can submit up to three options. We will get back to you to confirm the time, and then we will contact you at that time. The booking site will also prompt you for online payment of fees.
The one thing you should know about meeting is that I generally do not discuss children or their behavior in front of the children. Speaking about people and “how to handle them” in the third person in their presence feels disrespectful to me. If it is an observation-based consultation, of course the children are there and I interact with them, and might model strategies upon request. Even in those cases, the follow up discussion is done when the child is not present. So it’s good to keep that in mind when you are considering the best times to talk.
We meet for an hour at a time (or occasionally 30 minutes), ending with a check-in to make sure you have some things to try to address your concerns. All consults include a few very brief check-ins via email or messaging, just to tweak or fine tune the plan. I also like to know how things are going!
How To Get Started?
If you still have questions and need more help deciding whether this is the right match for you, feel free to go to the booking site linked in the “How Does It Work” tab and schedule a free 15 minute phone call (no video/zoom).
If after that initial conversation you’re ready to proceed, you can go directly to the same booking site and select “Book a Consult” and then “Initiate an Ongoing Multi-Session Consultation/Coaching Package.” That will direct you to complete the initial intake forms and ask you how many hours you would like to book. It will also enable you to make an appointment for your first session. After booking that first session, you can also book additional sessions in advance if you’d like a particular time interval, since if you wait for your first appointment, it may be quite a while until there is availability for your second. You can book additional appointments by choosing the selection “Ongoing/Prepaid Coaching Clients Only: Schedule Appointment.”
