“They aren’t Listening.” “He won’t listen” “How do I get her to listen?”
“Listening” is a euphemism and a misnomer. Let’s get rid of it. Children are always listening. What we really mean is “They won’t do what I say.” That’s about obedience, not listening. We parent for connection, trust, and relationship. Obedience is not the goal.
