The secret of respectful parenting is that it has little to nothing to do with what to do or not do or say with our children. The secret is that this journey is all about our own work, our own “growing up,” our own recovery from our childhood wounds, so that we can bring our full, best, mature, playful, regulated selves into our relationships with our children, and frankly, with everyone. The relationship takes care of the rest. It’s an inside job.
